Народився у Ричмонді (США). Закінчив «Henrico High School», навчався за спеціальністю «політологія» у «Virginia Commonwealth University», має науковий ступінь доктора права. Працював юристом протягом десяти років.
Його дебютний роман «Absolute Power» вийшов друком 1996-го року та був успішно екранізований. Пише для підлітків та дорослих, у його творчому доробку понад сорок романів, кілька з них адаптовані у фільми та серіали.
